VOLUNTEERING  &  INTERNSHIPS

Our team is enriched by the help of a selected group of volunteers and seasonal interns.

If you are interested in volunteering for us on a regular basis (once or twice a week) or in becoming an intern , please read the following carefully before getting in touch.

As a commercial enterprise, our work requires care, dedication, and precision; thus, the selection process to become part of our team is strict.

The activities that we regularly carry out and in which interns take part include: transplanting, sowing, harvesting, packing and selling, maintenance of growing beds, weeding, pruning, spreading amendments.

Our workdays can be intense and require excellent physical strength and a keenness for hard work, as well as the ability and willingness to work as part of a team of people who come from different backgrounds, countries, speak different languages but share a passion for nature and agriculture.

We share our experience with passion, taking care to create an environment where people can learn the art of ecosystem regeneration: from agroecology to soil health, from making biofertilisers to managing a CSA business.

We can accommodate two people in a caravan with a kitchen, an external compost toilet and a shower (cold-water only). We share lunch all together and provide food for the remaining meals. We communicate in English and Italian. We have a dog named Roger.

We welcome Woofers only for a long internship in one of the following periods:

3-month Summer Internship: End of April to end of July

2-month Autumn Internship: End of August to end of October

What we are looking for in a helper is:

  • strong motivation to learn how to grow vegetables professionally, in harmony with ecological dynamics

  • great physical and mental fitness, in order to sustain the (often but not always hard) work involved in horticulture

  • the ability to work in a diverse team, with people from different backgrounds, countries, who speak different languages but share a passion for horticulture

  • an "abundance" mentality, where there is no space for competition and personalism, where giving is the most effective way of receiving, and sharing is the most efficient way to learn

  • Knowledge and previous experience in regenerative agriculture, food, building, carpentry, plumbing, communication, film-making, etc. are welcome (but not necessary!)

If you are interested, send us an email at info@ortoforesta.it
